Our Mission, Approach, & Vision
Our Mission
Movement for Family Power is an abolitionist hub and incubator, cultivating and harnessing community power to end family policing and build a world where all families can thrive.
Founded in 2018, we are the first national organization focused on abolishing family policing.
Our Approach
Guided by movement lawyering principles, we approach power-building through three commitments:
► Connection: Growing movement networks to deepen alignment and make collective action possible.
► Capacity: Building infrastructure for our movement to preserve knowledge, adapt to emerging conditions, and endure for the long haul.
► Care: Supporting our collective imagination to vision and create conditions of care and repair.
We unapologetically center Black mamas, recognizing how white supremacy, anti-Black racism, and gender injustice function to sever sacred family bonds.
Our Vision
We envision a future rooted in racial and reproductive justice, where:
► All families are protected from family policing, state violence, and forced separation.
► The dignity and bodily autonomy of every pregnant, birthing, and parenting person is upheld.
► Communities have power and essential resources to nurture our relationships and keep us safe.
