Navigating pregnancy, substance use, and “child protection” services in Colorado.

Many people who use drugs face scary interactions with the family policing (“child welfare”) system during and after their pregnancies. We know the system’s surveillance and family separation tactics harm newborns and mamas alike.

To help families protect themselves, Movement for Family Power teamed up with Elephant Circle and Colorado advocates to create a new online guide to reduce harm, build power, and spread love for all pregnant and parenting people–centering pregnant folks who use drugs. While some information may be relevant across states, this guide is Colorado-specific.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Know your rights information

  • Local Colorado resources and connections

  • Affirmations from fellow parents
