Dr. Erinma Ukoha (she/her)

Advisory Board Member

Erinma Ukoha, MD, MPH, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, maternal-fetal medicine specialist, and assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her clinical, research, and advocacy work focuses on high-risk pregnancies, decriminalization of pregnancy and substance use, abolition in medicine, and addressing health disparities. She is committed to systems-level change, policy reform, and advancing the health and dignity of marginalized communities – particularly Black birthing individuals.

Dr. Ukoha obtained her Medical Degree and Master's of Public Health from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco and her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Columbia University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is also a member of the Society of Family Planning and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, where she serves on the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee.

Throughout her medical career, Dr. Ukoha has led patient care improvement and equity initiatives focused on the intersectional health justice in both academic and community spaces. Dr. Ukoha is involved with advocacy efforts on both state and federal level through Physicians for Reproductive Health, NY Informed Consent Coalition, and NY Mandated Reporting Working Group. She also serves on the advisory board for Doing Right by Birth Project. Her work includes direct engagement with legislators, policy statements, media interviews, and coalition building. As a provider and advocate, Dr. Ukoha continues to reimagine maternal health care through the lens of equity, autonomy, and liberation.
