Charity Hope Tolliver is a seasoned community organizer and movement builder with over 20 years of experience advocating for racial and housing justice. Currently serving as the Development Director at Metropolitan Tenants Organization (MTO), Charity works to strengthen tenant power and secure resources to advance housing equity and anti-displacement efforts. Previously, they led the Mass Freedom project at Race Forward, supporting abolitionist movements, and served as Director of Organizing at Southwest Youth Collaborative, where they spearheaded campaigns on fair housing, labor rights, and school reform.
Charity’s work is rooted in a commitment to transforming systems of oppression and building solidarity among those most impacted. As the founder of Black on Both Sides, Charity has been instrumental in advocating for Black liberation beyond the carceral state. Their leadership and expertise have earned them recognition through awards such as the Alston Bannerman Fellowship and the Soros Justice Fellowship.
