Join us for a timely conversation on the right to protest as a necessary practice of collective survival and how ongoing threats jeopardizing our rights to dissent, organize, and build power, are connected to the same fight for power ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Throughout, we'll explore the long history of Black and Indigenous solidarity and why young people are leading the way.

We'll be joined by Vince Warren, Center for Constitutional Rights; Nailah Summers-Polite, Dream Defenders; and Gia Loving, GSA Network, as we examine how dissent keeps democracy alive.

The United States built its power on stolen land, enslaved labor, and systemic exclusion. And yet, we are still here. Our people continue to organize and resist in the face of injustice. Every major advancement in our democracy, including the expansion of who belongs, who gets to vote, and who gets to be free, were claimed by everyday people who took to the streets and refused to be quiet.

The First Amendment is not a suggestion. The right to assemble, dissent, and demand better is the truest expression of a free and safe democratic society; however, this right is facing a coordinated authoritarian attack as lawmakers across the country decide who gets protected when they dissent and who gets criminalized for it.
