About the THRIVE Fund

For impacted leaders and grassroots organizers, lack of funding and resources can be a key barrier to their ability to thrive in their organizing and advocacy for families and can ultimately increase their own vulnerability to criminalization and family separation. This is why, in February 2025, Movement for Family Power launched the THRIVE Fund–the first mutual aid and capacity fund for the movement to end family policing. The Fund was designed as an experiment to help meet the individual and collective needs of people impacted by family policing and grassroots organizations within our movement ecosystem.

Beginning in 2026, the THRIVE Fund will not be open to the broader public but instead, will be accessible to those who are organizing in their local communities and collaborating with MFP and our movement ecosystem, especially folks who regularly attend Movement Syncs, our monthly mass movement calls for family policing abolitionists. This new structure is meant to reinforce the THRIVE Fund as a tool of collective care and movement-building.

What We Support

The THRIVE Fund prioritizes requests that help reduce barriers to organizing and/or fill an immediate, short-term capacity gap. Whether you are organizing an event, learning a new skill, dreaming up a fresh idea, starting on a healing journey, launching a campaign, attending a conference, or experiencing a temporary emergency, the THRIVE Fund may be able to offer financial support and connect you with other resources.

Eligibility 

We prioritize requests from folks who are:

• Directly impacted by family separation (family policing, incarceration, etc.) and connected to our movement ecosystem

• Grassroots activists or leaders in our movement ecosystem with limited organizational resources

• Requesting support related to or aligned with MFP's mission and values

Types of Funding

• Direct payments (direct deposit or check, can take 2-3 weeks to process after approval, see forms below)

• Direct purchases (payments made directly to a business, organization, etc.)

• Gift cards (electronic Visa gift cards or store-specific gift cards)

How it Works

• Fill out our request form below. Be as specific as possible. Include links and upload documents, if necessary. 

• Our team will reach out in 1-2 weeks with next steps. If your request is urgent, let us know in the form. Please do not submit more than once for the same request. 

Although we approach this work with an abundance mindset, our resources and capacity are limited. If your request is beyond our reach, we will connect you with other partners and resources, wherever possible. We appreciate your understanding, patience, and grace. 

Note: If you request support by electronic transfer (sent to your bank), you must submit an EFT and W9 form. If you request support by check, you must submit a W9 form. Please make sure all your bank information is correct.
